| Ottakars (MK) Signing

Hello,
I'm thinking about going to the Ottakars signing in Milton Keynes on 28 Oct 04.
Would Ottakars turn me away if I turn up with a book that I bought (more cheaply) from elsewhere? (eg. Asda or WHSmith)
What time should I turn up to ensure that I get my book signed?
Thanks. |

I can only tell you that when Jimmy Greaves came to Ottakars in Stafford, you had to buy the book to get in the queue, if you see what I mean.
It could be said that it's a bit cheeky to use their premises just to have a book you've bought elsewhere signed!!!
Anne
BUT - I see where you're coming from!!

I don't think they will mind if you haven't bought the book there, I work in one branch (and am working his signing!) and there has been no mention of having to bring a receipt! And also, some people have already bought the book from us, and other than proving you haven't stolen it, i can't see any reason to bring a receipt. I wouldn't worry - you could always get a really old book signed, and you definitely wouldn't have bought that at the store on the day.
Hope this makes sense and does not seem too rambley! |

I just came from the book signing in Norwich Ottakers. The rules were that you have to buy the new book, and could ask him to sign 1 other item at the same time. Pretty reasonable when you look at the queue that went across the entire shopping area on central Norwich! Not to mention the extra vultures lurking around the store taking flash photos in violation of the posted rules.
He has my sympathy. It's a testament to his continuing popularity, but it must take a lot out of him to have so many people demanding a moment of his attention.

i phoned about this the other day and the man said it was fine to have the book already. i was in an ottakers today though and they were selling it for £9.99 so i wont be too annoyed if i have to buy it again.
at the end of the day someone whos a big enough fan to want to and meet michael is probably someone whos going to want the book as soon as possible?
