Day 62: Rongbuk to Everest Base Camp

Everest at its most majestic. In June 1924 Mallory and Irvine would have crossed this same field of glacial debris on their way to the Rongbuk Glacier, on right, and the summit. No-one knows if they ever made it or not. The Palin expedition of 2003 can be seen on its way to 18,000 feet (5485m).
