Sahara - Chefchaouen, Morocco

Sahara - Chefchaouen, Morocco
The scenic old town of Chefchaouen, up in the Jebala Mountains, was created by the Moors and Jews as a refuge from the encroachment of Catholicism in the fifteenth century. Its appearance has remained largely unchanged to this day. The houses on its steep winding streets are all painted in a beautiful pale blue, almost exactly like the blue city of Jodhpur in Rajasthan. These inhabitants I encountered look like they could have been there since the beginning.
