Beds are the centrepiece of the Wodaabe camp. The double bed with the Chinese blanket looked incredibly comfortable and tempting for someone who’d spent far too many nights inside a tent being ‘at one with the desert’. I remember thinking that their ‘easy to assemble’ design was worthy of the IKEA catalogue, but how to ship the donkeys that carried them was a bit of a problem.
