Sahara - Tabelot, Niger

In the village of Tabelot, in the Ténéré Desert, we were taken to meet Omar, who was leading a camel train on the great salt route to Bilma. We were taken to the oasis a mile away, where an abundance of crops grow, including dates, oranges, maize, onions and carrots. All are irrigated by an ancient well run on camel power and a series of ducts very similar to those we saw along the Nile in Sudan during Pole to Pole.
