Sahara - The Ténéré Desert, Niger

The paraglider arrived in total darkness, guided by a single oil lamp in our camp. At JP’s
invitation, French flyers François and Renaud spent the next day buzzing around overhead like ‘blue-ass flies’, attempting to get some aerial shots of the camel train with Peter’s camcorder.
Some of the camels were unnerved and refused to move. It was a day of incongruities in the Ténéré desert. While the latest toy of twenty-first-century adventure was challenging the most ancient mode of desert transport from above, Mr Danger was trying out his snowboard on the sand in its shadow.
