When's the whole thing over??? Why do American elections take so long??
Re: The Democratic Convention by canaveralgumby on 29 August 2008 4:54pm
Sorry kazzzz. Maybe we should have a separate American Blathering On. :^) Yes, this particular election has taken WAY too long. It has been going on UNofficially for too long. It hadn't been this way in the past.

I was almost in tears last night. Obama said everything that I felt needed to be said to the cowboy, proudly-ignorant, macho schmuck conservative people in this country. Things we have been intimidated out of saying. Things Hillary would never have just come out and said, because she's a politician as a human being and too concerned about rocking the boat.

I say, capsize the boat!

Karen, why do American erection, oops elections take so long?!? Our media system has created this mess. It was not like this in the past.
Especially this time. The talking heads were already talking about the 2008 election the moment Bush was declared winner of the 2004 election. In other words, the campaign has been going on publically for almost two years privately for almost four.
This is also our most important election since 1928.
Add all that up and....

OH THE MEDIA! I can see no way, anywhere, of stopping the 'circuses' they create & feed off.

Cori, really inspiring words! (I will be inspired by Gordon Brown's party-conference speech in September, but it's certainly not quite the same thing)
