Pedro, have you sailed around the BVI's yet?? They are great and beckon sailors from all over the place. Evidently the most favored area for sailing in the Caribbean. Probably due to the close proximity of so many islands and that they're the least populated and least commercialized islands (as compared to the USVI.) A lot of places to anchor ffshore too, where you can just jump ship and swim to shore for some fun and sun, day or evening! Marvelous views too, becasue they are sprinkled with so many islands, not just horizontal water horizons when you look around yourself.

ah Peter, the salt water directly in the face thing....for sailing,I will take the Caribbean because the water is MUCH warmer, clearer and not so crowded. Come to our left coast and it is likely to be foggy, cold, windy and home to lots of sea lions which means the assorted white shark in residence. All those films about California beaches have fooled the masses into believing that the water is warm. not. Warm on the beach, that is of course why there are so many skimpy swim suits photographed...by guys of course... Here's to retirement!!!

I've been to both coasts, I personally like the east coast beaches best. And of course, the Caribbean for that tropical feel!

agee on the weather thing Sharon but Im not just a warm water sailor:) We have no tropics here in the UK.In 1985 I sailed myself from England to Antigua,Yes Patty done the BV islands Tortola (turtle dove)also Virgin Gorda (fat virgin):)And of course my own Peters Island:)I just prefer the carib laid back way of life plus the fact I have many friends and family there,so only need a bargain air fare which incidently are becoming harder to find lately.
