So pleased to hear you got there eventually, Katherine :-)
What were the shop staff saying?
"Shoo! Bugger off! There`s no Michael Palin here!"

Having travelled nearly 50 miles to Worcester to see MP yesterday (and shaking his hand!) I sympathise with you! We live not far from you (Stafford) and have a perfectly good Ottakars here!

Next time he brings out a book etc perhaps we should lobby Michael (very very nicely of course!!) to come to Stafford and/or Hanley??!!

Nice to see someone else on the site from these parts!

Best wishes

Anne

It has improved recently, I suppose! Ironically we used to do most of ours in Hanley!

There's an Ottakar's in my home town of Boston too, but it's only a wee small one! If Michael wants an adventure, he's welcome to do a signing from the wilds of Fenland Lincolnshire!!

That's one of the problems living so far out in the backwaters, it takes AGES to get to the nearest cities - Lincoln, Peterborough and Nottingham. All take just over an hour!

Hi all, I wish it was an hours drive for me to get to a major city, the closest for me is 4 to 5 hours drive away...groan. But I love my town so its not so bad, only if M.P. comes over here, its a major trip to see him.

You're not the only one nottsmeakin - any chat I see in there must be taking place with invisible ink!

Hmm... Meakin in the name, anything to do with the Meakin in the Michael Palin travel shows?
