Figuring Out Where to Hold the Block Party.Re: Two Months Already? by tucsonmike on 24 December 2005 3:29am

I'll put something up in more detail later.
Sighthound. You know it started out as Laynes post. A "meetup" didn't occur to me at first. I enjoy maps. People are always asking me to plot trips. So that's how this started. At first, I was playing. Since I am also doing publicity to build different things it built from there. So this has sort of "mushroomed." A Palinites convention (sounds like a tribe doesn't it? We'll need an anthropologist to study it);-)

Linz's Having a meeting on each continent is one possibility. Now here is an interesting reference question for me to harrass the Tucson-Pima Public Library with. Which airport in the world has the most connections worldwide? I am guessing Heathrow.

The fundraising could be some sort of charity thing. None of us are wealthy.
Help me with ideas about what can be done that will benefit all. Better yet, what would folks want to get out of a meeting. What would Mr. P want to get? Everyone should benefit. I am just throwing stuff out and brainstorming. Help me out. I just threw this stuff out suddenly....
More later.
Mike

I know I'd like to get some personal experiences on traveling from people here--maybe different speakers, that sort of thing. Maybe pictures. I'd also like to attend because I think it would get the word out about the Palin's Travels website. Perhaps get more regularly posting members. Where ever we convene, we could post an ad in a local newspaper or something of the sort. You know, let people know more about the wonder that is Mr. Palin.

Oh! Oh! Goody-bags!! :-P Cookies...that too. ;-)

Hartsfield-Jackson airport here in Atlanta has been called the world’s busiest passenger airport. Don't know if that's got any weight on the convention. I'm still pulling for Atlanta. ;-) Then again, I'm partial. I *did* tell Mr. Palin in the letter I sent that Atlanta was a good place to visit. :-P

Well Layne, now that would be interesting. Plan it for the end of July when the Romance Writers of America conference would be. Now that would be interesting.

I am still trying to think of what would bring folks together and other people to show interest. Another possibility would be an around the world trip, with different people traveling through regions and giving descriptions. For example, I could do the Southwest, Patty the Washington area, Layne Atlanta etc. Sort of "travel snapshots." Just another idea.

Sight, actually Baja would be interesting. Well, Mexico would be interesting....
Poor Mr. P. The people on this site are happily plotting away. I can see the poor webmasters telling him.
"Sire, the peasants are revolting."
"You're telling me!" LOL!
Maybe we should start with Atlanta. After all, this started out as Laynes thread. Oh, make it July...The poor Romance Writer Members. That would be interesting. Look at it another way. I'll take the flak for that. Many of them know me. It will just be more women in my life hunting me down to hit me with rolled up newspapers.

Yes, it's been done. My mother woke me up once by whacking me with parts of the Sunday New York Times. Another silly story for later.

I gotta go to bed. I am still listening to my brother-in-law. Teddy go to bed!!
It is 1:09 A.M. in the morning on the East Coast!
Why don't we work on a fund raising idea for this get together. I was checking out some of Mr. P's charities. Maybe do something around that.
See Layne, you don't realize how brilliant you are....
Now I am going to bed. I will drop in Christmas Day. Going to a party tomorrow night.

Mike, you know that little link underneath each of your posts? It says "Edit your message". You could keep adding to the one post rather than making lots and lots of little ones. Just an idea

Normally I would do it Ahren. I was typing and listening to my brother in law at the same time. It was interesting....

A Possible Idea to do This.Re: Two Months Already? by tucsonmike on 26 December 2005 12:39am

This might be something Mr. Palin might be interested in. I have a friend who I am trying to get on here (I already emailed Layne with this, since she began this thread). My friend has been a facilitator for the Bill Clinton Initiative. This organization is dedicated to tackling world issues.

Not sure where this will go, but I thought I would throw it up there. I'll be honest. I had all these ideas and now I am stymied. Maybe it is too much Christmas Ham.
