Probably the first film I saw was "Fantasia" when I was about three. I was told that I had seen it but didn't remember it. I was a music geek in high school and, although I liked everything else by Stravinsky, the "Rite of Spring" always upset me. Finally, I saw "Fantasia" again and, when the "Rite of Spring" sequence came on, all kinds of horrible old memories of dying dinosaurs came flooding back. It had obviously tramatized toddler me. (I hate Disney to this day. "Dumbo" was worse and I've never rewatched "Bambi" and I never will!)

I can't remember my first film, but when I was little my sister (who is 14 years my senior) used to take me to see all the Elvis and Cliff Richard films!!

I seem to remember having to sit on a step for one of the films so the cinema must've been packed out!

LOL. I could teach you to animate, jaime, and then you could really make Mom flee faster and help a lot of us work though that particular childhood trauma. (My advisor in grad school was the man who designed large parts of "Bambi". He's in his 90's now and he still feels guilty about how badly "Bambi" affected many generations of kids.)

That being said, I have to admit that one of my favorite short films is "Bambi Meets Godzilla"....

Star Wars, was the first film I ever saw. I was very young and hid behind the seat everytime Darth Vader came on the screen. I was actually born the year it came out so I could never figure out how I mananaged to see it in the theater three or maybe four years later, maybe it was re-released, or maybe it was becuase I was in Alaska at the time.

I didn't se Bambi until I took my own kids to see it when they were little. I was in a cinema full of young kids and I, in my early 20's, was the only one who cried!!

It's just soooo sad!

I don't like it in Dumbo when he loses his Mom either!!!!

One of the first films I saw on TV was an animation of "The Snow Queen" when I was about 4 or 5, maybe 6. I remember being absolutely terrified of the cold heartless woman and the image of her haunted me for days.

I think, at that age, I expected all women to be approachable and kind. : ) Linz

I remember watching Jungle Book at the age of 6, I think. It was in German of course and the Bear Necessities were translated: Probiers mal mit Gemuetlichkeit....
I loved it - still do.
