War Profiteering by sighthound on 11 May 2007 9:01pm

The second half of this article on yesterday's Congressional testimony (the Appropriations Subcommittee part)shows very clearly why Bush has no interest in getting us out of Iraq. The people behind Haliburton and Blackwater who put him in office are making just too much money.

I wish I believed in hell because, if it existed, these people would rot there.

Isn't that the North American Way? I think war drives a large part of our economy.

Pete, you are Canadian. As my trainer would say, "you guys are too nice!" War profiteering? You? Geraldine, I will have to read the link later, I am on lunch at work, but if true, much of that would make Watergate look like a walk in the park.

George W Bush is a decent God-fearing man and would not sacrifice the lives of his people in the pursuit of profit. I believe that Bush is a good man, perhaps not the best man to lead the most powerful nation on earth, but still, a good man that would not place economic benefits above moral bankruptcy.

Now I read it. If true...

I take credit for my tacit role in using the profits of war. Yeah, I'm a nice guy, but I still enjoy the spoils.

It's true, Mike. It's been corroborated by many sources.

And, hey, even Terry Jones has written about it. You need a better source???

You all should check out the great documentary "Why We Fight". When President Eisenhower left office, he warned of the "military industrial complex" becoming poised to become the dominant power in the United States. Unfortunately, this is exactly what has happened.

Unfortunately, you and Eisenhower are absolutely correct, voxpops.
