Weston Park by Spursfan on 8 September 2007 7:42pm

I have just spent the day at Weston Park (exactly 21 miles door-door from me). For those who don't know it is where the 'V' Festival is held and the home of Sue Nicholls (real name The Honourable Susan Frances Harmer Nicholls) who played amongst other parts Marilyn in Crossroads, Miss Popov in Rentaghost and Audrey in Coronation Street.

My husband collects Robert Harrop Beano and Dandy figurines (must have AT LEAST 100) and we were there for the Robert Harrop Party in the Park. We went to this a couple of years ago, they hold them every two years. You can have figurines signed by Robert Harrop himself.

The only 'fly in the ointment' was the queueing. My husband queued for one and a half hours to buy the Beano and Dandy event piece, and then 'had' to queue again to get it signed by Robert Harrop. He is going to suggest on the website that pieces are ready signed. I said that's all very well, but people want to meet RH too!! I used MP as an example.

The grounds are absolutely stunning - and the house aint bad either! I could see myself living there quite easily!!

I think I need to win a few million to buy it though, even if it was for sale, so I had better stip dreaming now!!

All those references sailed right over my head, Anne. "Coronation Street" is the only name I recognized although I've never seen that show. Got any links for us Yanks?

Individual public television stations often pick up Brit shows that the rest of the country never sees. The Houston outlet was the first that had the guts to air "Monty Python" and the rest is history, of course.)

Crossroads was another soap that began showing in the midlands in the 60's.

Rentaghost was a childrens show that ran in the 70's or 80's about a group of ghosts putting together a business. If you watch the video clip on this link, Miss Popov is in the red skirt. She sneezed a lot as I recall and would end up in a different place!

And finally, here is a link to my new house...er, I mean, to Weston Hall.

If you click on the link to the map at the bottom of the page you can get an idea of the scale of my new prop... I mean Weston Park.

;-)
