Michael in "The Guardian" 18 September by geordiegirl on 19 September 2007 6:53pm

By the time I've worked out what the link it, it's quicker just to copy this out,
From the PEOPLE page, written by Maev Kennedy:

"Nobody watching the ex-Python filmed on his latest travels for Michael Palin's New Europe, gallantly downing red wine in Split, white wine in Dubrovnik, and fermented corn juice in Sarajevo, could guess the private anguish he has been wrestling with. Palin's frankly not utterly covetable canvas shoulder bag, veteran - with several identical predecessors - of epic schleps around the Sahara, himalayas, and the Poles, has been stolen. At Budapest airport, he thinks. It's clearly been the last straw "I know I keep saying 'that's it' after each series," he said "I have lied several times but this time I really mean it, That's it." "
(End of item)

(Does he really mean it, though??)

I heard someplace else that he had said this was the last one. I really, truly, sincerely hope he doesn't mean it. Perhaps he can get roped into one more? Just a small one?

Oh dear, I certainly hope it is isn't the last series.

Oh no. Noooo. Say it isn't so! But something tells me that if Michael was going to call it quits it wouldn't be relayed like this. I'm not losing hope just yet. Not till I hear it straight from the great man himself.

Yes, Heather, I think you're right. I certainly wouldn't take anything for gospel from the pen of a newspaper diarist.

But I thought it was quoted from him...I dunno.

I wouldn't take anything as gospel from a newspaper diarist either, and I am one. Uh oh! I've been reading a lot of press about Michael lately and see mixed "views," so to speak, about his continuing on. The way I see it, as long as he stays in the public eye in some way -- through more books, travel shows, comedy appearances, anything -- then I'll be happy.
