flying rats and a flat tyre by arty_farty on 14 October 2007 1:57am

my weekend got off to a wonderful start when a wood pidgeon crashed into the loft window (hard enough to kill it and there is a lovely pidgeon shaped smear on the window).

and on the way back from the leeds match (which we should have won) we got a flat tyre and spent nearly an hour on the hard shoulder in the cold.

was everyone's weekend better than mine?

Not a good start of the weekend for you or the pigeon!

Well, at least England rugby fans are happy.

We saw "The Seeker: The Dark is Rising" on Saturday. It was okay; I'd give it 2.5 out of 5 stars. Worth the matinee price, not worth full price, and probably not worth buying when it comes out on DVD. But my daughter had fun, even though she said it was quite different from the book.

Today we went to church. I had to speak. It went well, but I'd rather have sung. I don't get as nervous.

Well, I worked yesterday and we are about to leave for the Desert Thunder Rodeo.

I saw 'La Vie en Rose' today. Excellent film. Last night my local pub had some really good live music (a rock group) plus the England v France rugby match on the TV.

you know how wonderfull my weekend was? it got better cause today my bro opened my window while one of the cats was on my bed and encoraged it to go outside.
i left the room for about ten minutes, came back, saw that the bird is missing and think nothing of it untill i hear this thump. the bloody cat had bought the bird in and was eating it on my floor!

Spent all of yesterday afternoon at the library. Today I worked on homework, watched the Bears game and then bought some sweaters at JC Penney's. Nothing fantastic, nothing catastrophic. Lol.

Never made the rodeo, but did finish my Chapter Nine edits and watched the National League Playoffs.

I had an OK weekend. Went south to Victoria to have a Thanksgiving clebration with my family. The little boys, my nephews, loved the hockey nets and sticks I brought them.

The weather was good while I was there. I baked in the sauna and swam in the fridgid Pacific both mornings. Good thing I took the submarine, because the rain was very heavy while driving both ways.

You missed the rodeo, Mike?!! I love rodeos but they are few and far between here. (Did some barrel racing in my distant past and I love to watch bull riding but, despite my feminist proclivities, I never wanted to participate - been smashed up enough by horses.)

How far are you from Victoria, Pete? I knew that the dates for the Canadian and American Thanksgivings were different but I didn't realize that the Canadian one was quite this early.

My weekend was spent fighting with my refrigerator. I inherited this fancy Sub-Zero one. Suddenly the veggie drawers wouldn't close which led me to discover a huge ice build-up. Turned the fridge off and got the ice out but I'm still getting water showing up. So either the inner workings are still iced up or there is a leak in the ice-making system. Damn! I just want a simple refrigerator whose sole role in life is to keep things cold. I can make ice myself given a reliable freezer.
