Reminiscing again. by johnnythemonkey on 24 December 2007 5:20am

I don't mean to be maudlin but we all think of loved ones who have snuffed it at this time of year.
Cheers to my Dad, Bunny ( John ) 1919-1985 and my beloved Mother ( I want to cry even mentioning her, I am crying ) Mary Anne MacDonald ( 1920- 1976 ). I miss you so much Mum.

Why did she leave me ? I was only a boy. I did'nt cry as I held her hand when she died and yet I cry as a 50 year old. Meg just told me to get over it. I can't and never will.

It's normal not to get "over it", she's your mother, and it's a very close bond, depending on the relationship. I'm sorry you lost your mum so young, Johnny. It's good for you to cry, and feel your real feelings, it's the only way to be true to yourself. Often people go into a protective kind of shock when they're young and they lose a special parent. It's kind of too overwhelming and painful at the time. But now it's good for you to feel it... because otherwise it's all hidden there, hurting... this way it can be tended to...

She'll always be with you Johnny.

You would have to know me MMMmmm. Although I know better, I don't like to be seen as weak. I believe that men should'nt be seen to cry. What would the world be if we were all bubbling wrecks ? A kick up the arse and get on with life is the best policy. I have been maudlin but no more ! JTM kicks ass !

As far as I'm concerned, real men cry. Real men can be real. I think it shows more strength. And it makes people stronger to be true.

That doesn't mean you have to stay stuck in it, but when you feel it, you feel it, and so be it. And then you move on, but it's what's best for your heart to be true.
