'Comedy Connections' by geordiegirl on 28 July 2008 4:14pm

A BBC-1 TV series, intelligent & entertaining, about comedy series on BBC: who acted with who before, what did they start in, etc. Quite family-tree like, but good entertaining stuff.

For those with access to BBC-1, worth checking forthcoming listings, as I have a feeling Monty Python will be covered in this current series (they were pictured - briefly - in the titles).

If I see anything definite, I will post it here.

geordiegirl:Thanks for bringing this to our attention.I have watched several in this BBC series and I can attest,as you say, they are fascinating,well-researched,and informative.I think the "Python" one is to be shown tonight, but check listings. bIG.LOL

No, bB, got it a bit wrong at first: it's 'Ripping Yarns' - should be great.
Enjoy!!

hey, where are you based? Are you a Geordie like me?

(Sorry, kidda, have to go offline now, but will catch up with your replies in a couple of days or so - Linda)

geordiegirl:You're right,it was RIPPING YARNS,last night,BBC1 TV,10:35pm.I watched the whole programme, and laughed a lot at the inventiveness and sheer gusto that Palin and Jones put into this (short)series.Hope you enjoyed it,too, geordiegirl(Linda).I'm not actually a "geordie" like you, but I have a lot of affection for geordies, and "them up North.." peter.

Ooh which episode was it then?

It wasn't a 'Ripping Yarns' episode, Kazzzz, it was more a discussion of the whole 3 series, with input from MP & TJ, and directors of the series. Plus what-they-did-before-RY and what-they-did-after.

Nice intensive analysis, just what I like! It might be repeated, or with your amazing IT knowledge, you could pick it somehwere on the web?

bB - Peter - thanks for the email. I've noted it, & will get in touch. Husband retrieves all emails for me as I'm not very IT-savvy.I do call lots of people Kidda (applies to all ages) - (i have to stop calling people Petal, which some, understandably enough, take amiss)

(BTW, I'm quite fat & 60 ,so if you arrange to meet me under the clock at Waterloo expecting Glamour, you'll get one hell of a shock)
