Being Lord Nelson for one hour, anyone? by bIG bLOGGER on 11 July 2009 4:16pm

..Isn't this the silliest idea you've ever heard of,inviting Londoners to stand on a vacant granite plinth in Trafalgar Square for one hour and do whatever the hell they want as long as it's legal? Even Monty Python wasn't THAT silly!! Makes me wonder what exactly you could get up to on a plinth that would be ILLEGAL! Anthony Gormley who came up with this barmy idea says it's "performance art" -but I have my doubts...I think I would take a large bag of bread with me to the plinth and feed all the pigeons because there was some stupid by-law that was invoked which said you couldn't feed the pigeons in Trafalgar SQ. without incurring a fine.

Anyway,I throw this open to palinites: if YOU got to stand on that plinth for one hour--what would YOU do??...have a nap? ..speak to God (or Lord Nelson..?)...read from Hamlet?...

I've always been a people watcher. It's fun trying to guess what people do, where they live and what they are thinking and how they got hooked up with their partner. Stuff like that can be funny. I'm probably wrong all the time with my guesses, but so what! We sometimes play a game where we try to find a resemblance of people to famous personalities, our friends or even animals.

Yes,patty,I go along with all that,it can be fascinating but also very puzzling as well.Do you have a famous personality to whom you bear a strong likeness??

canaveral: if you want to publicise a cause, why not ask for a real veal calf to accompagny you on the plinth? And--if there's room left, you could ask for David Blaine as well.

No, I don't look like anyone so far as I am aware.
