Beckham booed on return to L.A. by bIG bLOGGER on 21 July 2009 4:54pm

'Goldenballs' English soccer star David Beckham was booed and jeered throughout his match playing for LA Galaxy after having been in Europe for 5 months playing on loan to the Italian team A.C.Milan.
Fans held up placards which read <Fraud> and <Part-Time Player>,and some were offended by comments Beckham had made to the press saying he thought the standard of play in EUROPE was higher than that in The States.
One angry fan even jumped down from the stand to confront him in person, but was restrained by security.
I wonder if anyone has an opinion about these incidents? Is it possible that the tide is turning for Beckham and he perhaps needs to make up his mind where his footballing future lies and show undivided loyalty to ONE club instead of trying to spread himself all over?

I couldn't care less about him.

If he did say that (about the standard of play) I have to say that he was/is correct.

He should come back to the UK where he belongs and where he's appreciated. In fact I wouldn't mind him coming to Spurs - or better still, Stafford Rangers (my home town team yayyyyyy!!)!

:)

I have to say, I don't care either.

I saw that on the news. Yes, he is no longer the toast of Hollywood, unless he is being spread on it.

Beckham chose poorly when he decided to try get out of his LA gig. For one, I was really looking forward to him finally coming to play in Houston when the Galaxy played here. He was injured the last time.

Didn't he realise when he came to the MLS 3 years ago he was giving up competing at the highest level?

Maybe he wanted to be discovered by Hollywood and break into movies. lol.

The main problem with Beckham has always been that he has not turned the Galaxy into a winner. They are not even the best MLS team in LA.

All the other "team mate" issues would go away quickly if he could simply make a difference in the standings. The reception by the fans the other night were extremely well deserved. For their sake, I hope it got through to Beckham. The $1000 fine levied against him was a joke to him, but it does illustrate the huge disparity in salaries in our league. For most players $1000 is "real money". Another thing, too, I've never heard what Beckham meant by saying the fan 'went over the line' in his name calling. Does Beckham feel he is exempt from verbal abuse? Maybe he should go to an NBA game sometime and hear what the fans say to Kobe Bryant, LeBron James or the refs. Absolutely nothing is off limits.

True, in the NBA, it's a miracle there are not more incidents with fans in the stands. If you are in the front row, you are right there. Players sometimes stumble in the stands.

Right. Who can forget the "malice in the palace" incident with Ron Artest in Detroit few years ago?
