Artichokes. by johnnythemonkey on 17 August 2009 2:37pm

I've never eaten them but I know a story about them :)
I know a guy ( Arty Reynolds ) and he does a sideline in being a hired assassin. He works very cheaply. Anyway, he was hired to kill two blokes that work in a local supermarket and agreed to do the 'hit' for a token fee of £1. He thus strangled them in the chilled food aisle.
The next day, the local rag carried the headline " Big Arty chokes two for a pound in Asda. "

Yeah, headlines can do funny things to you. I saw a headline today on Yahoo news which went
"Hurricane Bill picks up in Carribean...."
and I immediately thought it was another story about Bill Clinton, that he'd picked up another couple of chicks, possibly 2 young female sailors this time, stranded on a remote island in the Carribean...

No you didn't think that, bIG. I doubt very much you really thought that. ; )

A few weeks ago I was watching the local news programme. Midlands Today and there was an item about a man whose son was a soldier who had died in Iraq or Afghanistan and it was something about his son's ashes.

The programme then went on to sport and the very next story was begun by the sports reporter saying 'What will happen with the Ashes?'!!

I mean - I nearly choked! It was a sad item but I couldn't help but smile!!

:(

Q: Has anyone ever choked eating artichokes?
Of course, eating pretzels is another matter entirely....

patty: how do you know WHAT I was thinking..are you my mind's-reader? :(
I really DID [at first] think it was about Bill Clinton because,well...I think about Bill Clinton quite a lot.
But then I realised it was a news story about bad weather. In any case,do you know why they have to always give human names to hurricanes and cyclones and tornados and so on? Does it somehow make them less threatening?

I like artichoke hearts in salads. Whole artichokes are tough eating.
