MUST READ! May 03 Nat'l Geographic Mag. by canaveralgumby on 20 May 2003 6:57am

...with Sir Edmund on the cover.

First, because it's a magnificent magazine! Second, because I'll bet it's a good preview of the type of thing we'll see/read after Michael's Himalayan trip. There's a great article about the Sherpas by T. R. Reid. I'm keeping this issue to compare it the impending MP book.

Happy reading, C

yes and you have already missed the first showing of the everest climb with hillary's son, norgay's son and the son of the first american (oh, what whas his name)to summit to celebrate the 50th anniv. of the first summit....on the national geographic channel,,cable for sure....i think it is to be repeated on the natgeochannel (usa) over the weekend of the 24th....probably on that sunday (25th) worth trying to catch even if our michael is not there...thank goodness.

Oh, no, no, no, Melissa, MP is NOT in the Nat'l Geog. I'm sorry if I gave that impression. I was just thinking that the MP fans might be interested in the articles about the Himalayas, since he's going there next. But if you're still interested anyway, then I'll bet your local library has the mag.

this issue also has a great map of Everest - including base camp where our intrepid MP will be going - as a free pull out and it is brilliant - the magazine is still available in the Uk - I bought mine yesterday at W WH Smith for £3.50

I am going to keep the map to get Mp to sign it for me on his next tour of book signings.

There are also several TV progs on Everest and Hilary over the bank hol weekend
