Sappy Movies by notquitenglish on 31 May 2003 7:33am

The things you hate to admit to, you know? Capra, for instance.
I love 'It's A Wonderful Life' and usually bawl unashamedly at the end.
No, that's a lie. I just thought it sounded good.
What is your favourite sappy movie? Or just the one you're most embarrassed about watching 'll do....

I usually cry in supernatural films like The Ghost and Mrs. Muir, E.T., Ghost, The Sixth Sense and The Green Mile. I also get quite teary in Wuthering Heights (the original version with Laurence Olivier), Schindler's List, The English Patient and Titanic. Oh yeah, I cried in The Godfather Part III where Michael Corleone dies all alone at the end of the film. That was sooo sad! It's like the end of the dynasty, ya know? And I cry when Melanie Hamilton dies in Gone With The Wind. She is really the only honourable character in the whole film!

Ummm, there have been a few others but I can't recall them all at the moment!

Cheers,
Michelle :)

Braveheart...always cry at the end of that.
Oh and Wayne's World...although those were tears of laughter!!

I'm a total sap for "It's a WonderfulLife", too.
Fly Away Home, Black Beauty, My Dog Skip,
and yes.....I cry when I watch Titanic.
Big sap here...

Some that come to mind are:

Cider House Rules
Immortal Beloved (me too~!)
Sophie's Choice
Schindler's List
Last Orders (Great film ..again with Michael Caine)
High Tide (a great film from Oz featuring Judy Davis)

These are not all sappy movies per se, but I had to wipe away many a tear watching them!

i think we would not be human if we all have a weep now and again . the last thing i cried at was a tv adaption of the diary of anne frank . it showed what happened to her and her family at the 2 concentration camps and her father otto when he came back to amsterdam and found out none of his family had survived it was very moving .
peace

Beki - I am impressed that you know the film "High Tide"!! It also stars a very young Claudia Karvan in her first film role - she was an amazing actress even as a little girl.

Cheers

"High Tide" is one of my all-time favourite movies! I bought a second hand copy from our video store a few years ago and wore it out!
I was a bit suprised that you had heard of it too, Beki.
