SNOOZIE UPDATE! by TERRY S on 16 January 2011 10:29pm

Snoozie has arthritis in his left front paw. He has been given Metacam - I think - to deal with it, but it may spread to everywhere else. Not nice, huh?

Is it an old cat ? Such treatment can be expensive.

Poor Snoozie! I hope the medication helps.

He's at least 10. Actually, Metacam is only £15 a box, which is quite good. And we can claim it on the insurance anyway. It lasts for a while. It's not helping so far. Another appointment Wednesday.

Terry, have you tried glucosamine/chondroiten/MSM? I had Orion on that for his arthritis. They should have it formulated for kitties. It takes about ten days to see full effects, but he was pretty bouncy after that. I hope Snoozie feels better soon.

The glucosamine/chrondroitin/MSM recommendation is very good and should help a lot. Adding those nutritional sources in the diet works even better over time. Feeding raw meat with the bones, organs and all the connective tissue supplies them if you can get your cat to eat them. (Most cats, after they've had commercial food with all the flavor enhansers don't want to go back to their ancestral diet.) All my dogs love their raw diet but 2 of my 3 cats, adopted after they learned to love commercial food, obviously think I'm insane when I offer it to them.
