Hudson is an awesome dog! by Lounge Trekker on 24 July 2011 5:56am
Hudson is an awesome dog!

My life has been enriched by the most amazing dog...Hudson, a 2 year old Staffordshire Bull Terrier. He is more dog than meets the eye. When I figure out the address of my Photobucket account, I'll show you guys what he looks like. He is a high-performance learning machine. Now that I've told the world how fast he learns, there are no excuses...I must live to help Hudson become the best dog he can be.

I found the address to the pictures of Hudson: http://s1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/LoungeTrekker/ Here you can see two pictures of him on the beach we go to most days. His hair is white, the spots are on his skin.

His strength is incredible. I found a weight record for an SBT of 1300 kg. A wheeled cart, but that is about the same weight as a small car. I'll wait until he is fit and a little more co-operative before I get him to pull. I want to try rollerblading with him before he learns what his strength can do.

I've learned an amazing amount of useful and succesful dog training psychology. I meet people I would not otherwise have a chance to talk to. For every person who avoids us (maybe it's me they're avoiding), there might be five who admire his appearance and behaviour. What a dog, what a breed.

Hudson sounds like a lovely dog.

Couldn't see the pictures on that site though.

Pete, I'm SO happy that you have a dog in your life again! I've seen the pics and Hudson is absolutely gorgeous. Love the spots!

I'm sending you a copy of Vicki Hearne's "Bandit: Dossier of a Dangerous Dog" which shows how all "pit bull" type dogs have been so unfairly demonized. They are great dogs and I'm sure you and Hudson will have a great life together. Looking forward to hearing more about your exploits with him....

I would like to see everyone have a positive personal relationship with a dog of this breed. I knew they were smart, strong and agile, but I had no idea of the magnitide of these characteristics. Having Hudson is like being coach to a young star athelete...who doesn't speak English!

The beach, Loretto, is about 200 metres from our home and is accesible by car for about 20 kilometres. Only a few stretches are sandy, and the water is too cold for swimming but it is always there and always changing. One can have a cookfire or even a roaring bonfire...anytime. The fire department does an early morning cruise past it, as a way to stay sharp. Summers here are great!

Hudsy was shivering when I was on one of the docks to visit a sailor friend. I got a nice child-size fleece vest for a dollar at a thrift store on our way home and my neighbour will take it in for me. Now all he needs is a matching hat and we'll be the Dog Fashion couple for Fall 2011!

So nice to have another Staffie fan on the site Pete!! :D

I too wish that more people had a positive relationship with the breed. Most people we meet with Tosun DO look on him poitively and often ask to stroke him, but occasionally you get the 'look' that means 'how dare you bring such a dangerous dog on the street or wherever'!! Needless to say they get a certain 'look' back from Tosun's Mom!! The other day we were in the park with our grandson Alfie, sitting on a bench, when a couple of women and their young children walked past. One of the women said 'oh watch out for that big dog'!!! (Staffies are classed as medium dogs - the way she was talking you'd think he was an agressive St Bernard or something!!)

keep up the good work, Pete - spread the word!!
