Wish I'd had my camera handy ! by johnnyBgood! on 7 June 2012 6:18am

I seen my old cat McGill ( who's almost 20) nuzzling a neighbour's young cat yesterday, who could pass for his son. The old guy has been neutered since he was a youngster.

I met his previous 'mums' daughter last week. His 'mum' had moved to Cyprus a few years ago, and I'd heard that she's been recovering from breast cancer. I told her daughter to pass on my best wishes and tell her that the old guy was still thriving. She was very fond of him and probably thought that he'd passed by now, so I hope that news gives her a boost in her recovery.

We attended a high school graduation ceremony from UNIS, United Nations International School on May 31st. The highlight of this ceremony for me was asking the crew taking the sound equipment down if myself and a friend could get our picture taken at the famous green granite podium. In the regular UN tour you can't get near it. So, my friend's daughter took this pic....I wished I had my camera though!!

You look so different in that pic than others that I've seen of you Loretto. You've had your hair lightened. At the risk of being cheeky, I think that you'd suit your hair a few inches shorter. But what do I know !

Ya cheeky devil! I'll get my hair cut next week!

Yeah, as we ladies grow older my hairdresser tells me we need to go a few shades lighter! It is bloody expensive so I keep threatening to just stop coloring it and let it go grey! That's next year's 100 day challenge John.

Margaret is almost 57 and has almost no grey hair. She does sometimes put a temporary colouring through it but even when she doesn't, she only has a few grey hairs.

My hair is strange. When I keep it it's usual short length, the grey is hardly noticeable but if I let it grow a few inches, I'm quite silver !

I'm a redhead. No hair, just a red head.

:D

I actually like grey hair, I think Helen Mirren looks gorgeous with her grey hair. Grey is just another color after all!

It doesn't bother me at all. I think it depends on your complexion whether or a not a color suits you. I wish it didn't take forever to go grey though. I only have about 1/4 inch if I left nature take its course, but at 43 I am told I am too young. Yet, I had a substitute teacher work for me a few years back who was all grey in her late 30's, and it looked great!

Remember how gorgeous Meryl Streep looked in The Devil Wears Prada? Grey hair! I think this deserves a blog post all of its own....and then a follow up post about straight hair and curly hair characters in literature and film, there is a pattern there. To be continued..........

LOl at both of you girls. Anne, that was an old Chic Murray joke.

As the saying goes, I'd rather have grey hair than nay hair. Guys that go bald start to lose their hair in their 20's. I'll be 55 this year and have a full head of hair. I think that if I lived for another 30 years, I'd more or less remain the same.

When my late sister lost her hair due to treatment for cancer, it grew back in silver and she rather suited it and left it that way.

My hairdresser joked it to me a few years ago, when I decided to change my haircolour to reddish. He said 'So, you want to be a redhead eh?' and then added 'No hair, just a red head'.

I was actually born blonde, but as I got into my late 20s my hair started to get darker. To start with I had highlights put in, but then I suddenly decided to chanmge altogether (I was in my 40s).

The best colour he ever gave me was a bright pink!! This was about 4 years ago. I loved it, and so did my friends - I can remember Veronica saying, when we were all meeting up at Manchester Airport, that she could see me from quite a way away!! Only trouble was, it was a mix of about 3 colours. To save money, Zak colours my hair now (though we still have Nigel to cut our hair every 6 weeks) and it would be a bit much to expect him to blend the colours too [he does a brill job btw, bless].

Loretto - LOL! I theoretically have to use 50 sunscreen as my illness is sensitive to the sun. I find that a lower factor is ample though. I also keep in the shade as much as possible.

:)

I've seen pics of you when you were young and fair haired Anne.
Like me, you were once good looking. ;)
