Only in Hollywood - New "Around the World in 80 days" movie. by Godfather on 12 February 2004 12:24am

I have the 1950's David Niven film of "Around the World in 80 days". But see what is going to be released this June. A new version of "Around the world in 80 days" LOL. Only Hollwood could revive something like this and make it into one of those "deep voice" trailers. The trailers you can view (in various formats like Realplayer, Windows Media Player, Quicktime, etc) are down the list on the page. You'll see it. Hard to see the actors in the trailer. But Passperatout is played by Jackie Chan..hehe. and Phileas looks like he's played by (and REALLY sounds like) by Steve Coogan (of all people). Although i cannot be certain it's him. It certainly looks funny :)

P.S : Michael should of had a cameo in this :)

Certainly looks interesting and Steve Coogan is indeed a peculiar choice. I shant be able to watch the film without thinking of Toblerones and driving barefoot to Dundee. Heh :o)

I wonder if Phileas will be offered a 'Cup of Beans' on his travels???
Coogan's a good actor, he'll pull it off, although do expect Phileas to sometimes act a bit like Partridge. It's a shame Lynne can't go with him..

I wonder if he'll drive a Lexi (plural) around the world in Eighty Days? Tell you what, tell you what, it's nine and half thousand pounds...
Phileas won't like London though, as Partridge says " if you go to London, you'll either be mugged or not appreciated"..

Don't forget Eric Idle's version from the late 1980s!

Yes, it's Steve Coogan in this new one. The Tall One will also be in this film (unless his scenes get cut). And the Wilson brothers as the Wright brothers. And Sammo! And Ahhhhnold -- oh, well...

From the IMDB:

Jackie Chan .... Passepartout
Steve Coogan .... Phileas Fogg
Cécile De France .... Monique
Jim Broadbent .... Lord Kelvin
Kathy Bates .... Queen Victoria
Arnold Schwarzenegger .... Prince Hapi
John Cleese .... Grizzled Sargent
Owen Wilson .... Wilbur Wright
Ian McNeice .... Colonel Kitchner
Luke Wilson .... Orville Wright
Rob Schneider .... Hobo
Mark Addy .... Steamer Captain
Ewen Bremner .... Inspector Fix
Marsha Yuen
Maggie Q .... Female Scorpion Agent
Sammo Hung Kam-Bo .... Wong Fei Hung

YES
Steeve Coogan rules.
London? Or as he calls it S.H.I.T.H.O.L.E......
"Beefeaters are restaurants and they live in the tower of London!"
"Anybody who saw that may have thought that was me in that bear costume.....me dressed as a bear...they'd think I'd lost it again."
"I drove to Dundee in my bare feet"
Anyway, I won't stay here all day saying partridge quotes...which I'd love to do.
Bye....oh AHA!!!!

MARK ADDY?! YAY! :D And Jim Broadbent, though he will always be Bridget Jones' Dad/Harry Zidler to me now.
