Tell us your most embarrassing moment! by Helen on 10 April 2004 11:04pm

Or at least one embarrassing moment, as i have had too many to list here...come on! It'll be fun! I'll start....
One time I was filling in for a world music DJ at my radio station.. I was tired...very tired...
I back announced what I had played and Ali Farka Toure came out sounding like" Ali F**k a Toure"...FCC fine anyone??????
OR the time I called my husband "mom" during a disagreement...
OR the time the boy I liked slow danced with another girl right in front of me...he knew I liked him and was rubbing it in... the bastard.
don't get me started on junior high gym class...

Oh, far too many to mention.

Okay. Picture it! End of school production, last night of shows. Am plucked with two friends to present helping teachers with wine and flowers. Deputy tells me to give it to headmistress so she can present the teachers with them...... and i walk out, bright red as ever, handed them to her, and she just announced very loudly, "Now, Dear, i'm not Mrs Saunders, am i?!" Still makes me cringe to this day. Plus there was a very interesting story with some strawberries but we won't go into that!

I had an embarassing encounter in my primary school, or as you americans call it - elementary! It was juring a school production aswell. I was the witches cat and was supposed to say "she's not that a bad witch anymore" I said "bad b*tch." I then blurted out witch. Everyone just carried on smiling. PHEW

Okay, cheese... one time I was walking down the street, and not looking where I was going. BANG right into a street lamp. DUH. I felt like such a maroon.
People laughed at me.

When I was about seven years old at a community mannequin parade I was selected (press ganged!) into modelling some items. Doing the swim suit was the worst. Then at an Outward Bound course when I as about 17 I, and everyone on the course, had to jump in the lake first thing every morning with absolutely no clothes on. Because of these experiences I am a bit less modest now.

Judo contest when i was about 8-9 years old. I was utter shite. My parents were watching it all from amongst the audience. My opponent was such a smarmy little sod, that he just did a Mohammed Ali psyche out on me. Whatever i tried to get him down on the floor, he was just solid as a rock and looked at me with a blank expression on his face of - "Is that it?. that's pathetic". I felt like i wanted to die that day. I wanted the floor to swallow me up. I just lost all memory of different techniques, and just kept on trying the same thing out of panic, which made this kid even more determined to make me look like a loser. He suceeded. I really felt a loser that day, and it really put a dent in my confidence. The type of thing where your parents afterwards say "It's alright, it's only a game. At least you tried your best" (when you know, they dont really mean it and are really thinking - "My god,he was utterly embaressing, and what a waste of money those years of Judo lessons were.). LOL. I'll assasinate that smarmy kid if i ever see him again ;)
