"Gin and Tonic" by peripatetically on 1 May 2004 1:21pm

There's going to be a new movie produced to mark the 25th anniverasy of the "Life of Brian". It is ABOUT the Pythons, but does not star a single one of them. Cast members are being interviewed now. I understand there have been some wonderful auditions already, along with some really bad ones too. People interested will have a chance to audition for any member of the 6 zany characters if they missed the opportunity in Los Angeles, California. From the reports, the next stop is New York and then on to England. Of course, they do expect great things from the UK. So, if anyone is good at impersonations and knows the skits or scripts by heart, that's who they want to see. Looking like the characters is also important.

But let's face it. Nobody can really take their places. I'm afraid this is going to be another movie greatly anticipated, but not too good in the long run. Sorta like the Beatles and Elvis impersonators..... Never enjoy that after the real thing.

I spoke with the Director of the film yesterday, and he shared quite a bit of information with me. The production company is called Hippofilms and is based in Los Angeles. The film will begin shooting the end of November/early December in London. They are currently locking in a major distributor for the film. Auditions have already been held in Hollywood and will take place in New York very soon. I saw a photo of an Eric Idle look-alike. He's dead on (cutie)!

peripatetically a little correction of your information by irishmanufan on 2 May 2004 1:12am

peripatetically your information is not 100% correct . this is a flim biography of graham chapman not the pythons as a whole group . hence the title gin and tonic , it was his favourite drink in his alcoholic days . i have seen the official web site . looks interesting . i think i will reserve my judgement until the film comes out . although i'd say i will be hard pressed to see it here in ireland
cheers

Linda, I know you are right and I stand corrected. Maybe I should've checked my facts huh? hehehehe. When I tuned in to the channel mentioning this movie, it was not from the very beginning. They did mention honoring Graham, but then they mentioned the LOB anniversay quite often. My mistake. Perhaps this is simply coinciding with the anniversay of LOB. That's what I must've heard. Sorry folks!
