Popular Movies and other Nightmare Tales by notquitenglish on 10 May 2004 1:30am

Why, oh why, can't Hollywood get their head on straight? I went and saw Van Helsing a few days ago... it wasn't scary... it was laughable... the accents were terrible.... and it didn't really star Hugh Jackman, it starred his microphone!

The worst movie I ever saw was...

*strangled cries as Palinite14 is throttled by film director*

I'm not supposed to diss people on the Net! :(
Let's all disseminate positive information in a rosy halo of good deeds instead.

It'll never work. (stomps off to tell friends how bad unnamed movie was)

M Knight Shyamalan's new effort, The Village, has got everyone here in an uproar, and it hasn't opened yet. For his sake it'd better be good.

My son, 16, saw Van Helsing last Friday night and told me it is "something I'd like" which is a slasher movie with a decent plot. The local newspaper reviewer thinks it's pretty good. Oh well. I guess I'll have to see for myself.

I saw Van Helsing the other day, I think it was O.K. Kate Beckinsale is so HOT! shame about her accent!

Oh, Lord! Deliver us from Kate Beckinsale's accent!!!

I think Hugh Jackman is hot, too, but not quite hot enough, apparently...

No, really, I enjoyed watching the movie. It's just they could have done much better if they'd tried. The Dracula guy looked like he was having a good time...

Speaking of accents, do any of you remember Kevin Costner trying to sound British in Robin Hood, then dropping it after about 20 min., retreating back to being to his usual California Kevin? I haven't seen Van Helsing yet, but I probably won't care how Ms. Beckinsale sounds.

I've been waiting for someone to bring up British accents so I could ask about Ian Wright, but I'll wait.
