Michael is sorta-kinda everywhere... by Rusted on 13 December 2002 7:42am

...in a strange sort of way.

So the play I'm in runs again this weekend. Backstage today, I happened to glance at one of my fellow thespians and nearly did a double-take. He had oversized boots on, and his pants and shirt were rolled up just like the infamous Gumby characters. I HAD to crack up. The only thing he was missing was the handkerchief and the moustache! He also made our sheep-on-a-stick prop fly for prolongued periods of time last weekend. I guess Harold was more successful than we thought.

And this all from a guy who is totally oblivious to Python...

Also, three of my honors seminar teachers started quoting from the Dead Parrot sketch Wednesday night during class. I can't seem to get away from them!

Hmmmmm, spooky, very spooky.......

Pythonisms lurking round every corner!! :-}

I do know what you mean Mary. Earlier this year I was playing in a cabaret show that had a mix of big song'n'dance numbers, ballades, celtic folky/rock, a stand up comedian and comic sketches. One of the sketches performed was the Python classic "The Four Yorkshiremen". In our version, the men were all older, wearing great overcoats and big flat caps, holding wine glasses instead of beer mugs. It went down well every night and as the audience laughed and applauded I thought "that's for you Michael, Terry, Eric, Terry, Graham and John."

Our four chaps performed it really well and it made me appreciate what great material it was all over again.

"Aahh", Python will never date!!! :-}}

P.S. How's the play going??????????

LOL, that's awesome, Ellen!

On a smaller scale, we had to perform a scene from a movie in our drama class. One of the group of guys did the guardsman scene from Holy Grail. It was obvious that only one or two of the guys had actually seen the movie, though, because some of them did a beautiful version of the sketch and the other ones seemed kinda lost and confused about the whole thing... ;O)

The play is doing great - I really messed up doing props last night (it's understudy weekend, as I mentioned before; I perform again next week), but only one bad thing happened tonight and it wasn't my fault. I'm no backstage or tech person, but at least I know what I'm doing now! Whew! Thanks for inquiring!
