Spamalot by weegigi on 13 July 2004 1:43am

Anyone else planning on seeing Spamalot? Admittedly I didn't have high hopes when I first heard of the project, but I am a sucker for David Hyde Pierce, Hank Azaria and Tim Curry! C'mon, who can resist? Now they just need to cast Ewan McGregor in lieu of Michael. (I don't want the role to fall on Jimmy Fallon after all)

I would if it were coming to Adelaide; I'd still feel a bit funny about it 'cos it wouldn't be any of the Python guys - it would be funnier if they did the plan they used to talk about, ie have all the knights as old farts and gallop around everywhere, I'm sure Terry jones would be a hoot to watch (he and John cleese aged pretty badly, I must say =D)

Izot! How dare you!

Actually, I feel John really hasn't aged because he always seemed old(er) to me. As for Terry, he seems rather spry and not half as cantakerous as my father. And damn it, I would pay a leg and a half to watch Cleese dash around lopping people's legs off and murdering a wedding a party tomorrow!

And neither sours my milk as much as Jimmy Fallon. Sorry, Jimmy, but you're constant breaking up in scenes is not endearing to me.

I'm really excited about seeing Spamalot. I agree with you, Izot - I'd love to see the Pythons do it themselves, but it wouldn't really be the same without Graham (and Michael, especially, never really seems keen about doing a "reunion" show of any kind). But I'm happy with the re-casting, as long as they give us a good Sir Galahad!

I'm definitely planning on seeing it when it opens in New York.

How about Steve Coogan as Galahad/Dennis/King of Swamp Castle/Knight of Ni ?

Re: Spamalot by Izot on 16 July 2004 6:07am

Just did a google search on Coogan... yeah, all right. =D

Oh, I love Steve Coogan! He would make such a great Galahad...he reminds me a lot of Michael when he was younger, so that would have been great.

Sadly, they've announced the rest of the cast and Steve Coogan will not be in it. The rest of the principal actors will be Douglas Sills, Michael McGrath, Steve Rosen and Sara Ramirez.

I love Coogan too! Anybody see the 80 Days movie? (I didn't.)

Douglas Sills is a good choice.

I mean a *good* choice.
