Paris by lukeghent on 23 July 2004 10:30pm

Going to paris in two weeks, Ok not much of a jorney but its a start! Just wondered if any one who had been could advise me on the best places to visit while myself and my gf are there. I would rather see an honest view of the city than get caught in the usual torist traps. Thanks

It is a beautiful city to visit. We only did the 'tourist traps' but they were worth it. The Eiffel Tower, cruise the Seine, the Champs Elysees and out of town, the Palace of Versailles which takes at least a day to do properly. We also had a two day pass for Disneyworld a distance to the East of the city. There are other areas in the city which are off the tourist track but we hadn't time to visit them.

How about watching fellow Texan, Lance Armstrong, standing in front of the Arch de Triompe wearing the yellow jersey! For me, that'd be just about perfect, y'all.

Ive been three times now, well go figure with a username like napoleon.
Paris is fantastic and one of my all time favourites. Forget what people say about the french being rude and unhelpful, they are not. If you want to do the louvre, get there mega early.
Its worth doing once. climb up the top of the arc de triumph that fun just watching the traffic, do the eiffel at day and night its better at night. the seine cruise is one of the few things that is reasonabley inexpensive. dont have a drink outside at the place detetre its very expensive. pick and choose where you eat and drink and its not that expensive, mcdonalds are roughly the same price and sandwiches etc are reasonable. musee dorsay is brilliant and of course versaille might be a bit much to take in if you are on a short break, but the metro is excellent and if you get a pass it works out very cheap ask at the airport
enjoy
