PLEASE READ!!Anyone seen American Friends!! by Dreamchild on 28 January 2003 5:49pm

Theres a post later down that I did with no bites so here I try again..I just recently got this great movie the other day It is the most romantic movie I have ever seen perhaps more so because at the end says it was based on the jornals of Edward Palin in 1866.So it was in alot of ways true..Michael wrote the screen play from a story he had written and I would love a copy of this story..
Much love,
Beth
P.s.does anyone know if Edward Palin is Michaels Great grandfather or Grandfather so on..I know his middle name is Edward just wondering if maybe he was named after him..

Hiya Beth :-}}

Sorry, didn't catch this before :-{

Yes 'American Friends' is based on diaries written by the Rev Edward Palin Michael's great grandfather.

If I remember rightly, the diaries had been passed on to Michael by a cousin. He had initially looked through them and put them away. After a few more periodic perusals he came apon the "love story" at the end part of the diaries, of Edward Palin a highly respected Oxford Don meeting the young Brita whilst on holiday in Switzerland.

Agreed, the film is very romantic and is definately one of my favourites too. :-}}

Hope this is helpful :-}}
