PLEASE READ!!Anyone seen American Friends!! by Dreamchild on 28 January 2003 5:50pm

Theres a post later down that I did with no bites so here I try again..I just recently got this great movie the other day It is the most romantic movie I have ever seen perhaps more so because at the end says it was based on the jornals of Edward Palin in 1866.So it was in alot of ways true..Michael wrote the screen play from a story he had written and I would love a copy of this story..
Much love,
Beth
P.s.does anyone know if Edward Palin is Michaels Great grandfather or Grandfather so on..I know his middle name is Edward just wondering if maybe he was named after him..

I BELIEVE that this was based on the story of Michael Palin's great-parents. Maybe he could just as well have left the characters with their real names.

It seems to me that perhaps this story was begging to be written for a while. There seem to be bits and pieces of it in other material Michael did. Especially "The Missionary." Maybe even in the decision for Michael to play Galahad, who took an oath of chastity and then wound up in the Castle Anthrax.

At any rate, it heartens me that in some incarnation, Michael went for an American many years his junior with dark eyes and dark curly hair.

Yep, I read something like Michael found a box in the attic and realized it was written by his great (great?) grandfather (I don't know if there's one or 3 greats there...) and made his letters into a sort of screenplay and worked onto the movie and etc. about his ancestor's love for another or something...I'm sorry, my facts are obviously not right but I hope you've got an idea because I'm dying to see the movie but I'll just read my "Sahara" book for now :D
