Most disappointing but I appreciate the effort Webmaster by xine on 20 February 2003 6:05am

Hello, like many others I took 20 minutes to get to the webpage and 10 more minutes (or more) to get to the Chat room, then I had to wait and wait before I saw anything on the screen, then the messages just stopped. I had purposely adjusted my alarm to wake me up at 1 am and since I still could chat nor see the chat by 2.20, I gave up. It was most disappointing, I would have been satisfied to see just Mr Palin answering questions from other Palinites. But I still wish to thank the webmaster & his team for organising this and working hard so that at least some others could chat. Do hope there'll be another chance for Mr Palin to chat with us.
Here are some ideas: could Mr Palin post his answers to some of the questions posted on Chatter Box?
if you guys and Mr Palin are agreeable, you might want to plan 2 chat sessions at different times for people from both sides from the globe?
Thank-you.
Christine, Singapore

I'm in agreement here.

I read your post, Webmaster, and I want to thank you and Michael and everyone who's working on this site for doing what you could and for the apologetic note after.

It was VERY considerate of you, as I too was *quite* let down regarding the chat today. My scenario was almost the exact same as Christine's, only I luckily didn't have to wake up so early. However, I did miss my astronomy class which, although I can get by with missing it, would still have been a helpful review. This wouldn't have mattered to me at all except for the fact that I was not able to enjoy Michael's presence the way many other Palinite's were, for no reason other than a bit of random bad luck.

I'm glad that those of you who were seemingly unaffected by this enjoyed it, but it was a bit of a let-down for me, as I'd really been looking forward to it, whether a question of mine was answered or not. And I know others that I talked to felt the same way. :O(

Anyway, it's *obviously* no fault of anyone working on this webpage, as you had no idea how many numbers there would be and how it would effect the chatroom. My main reason for this post is just to let you know that I really really hope Michael would be willing to do another chat some time, and I hope the chat can be worked on to accomodate a bigger capacity. :O)

You accused him of stirring Lyn, that was a bit harsh.

How about everyone who considered the last chat to be too painful to look at it as a learning experience. The Webmaster had no idea it would turn out the way it did, but now he knows better. It was a lesson well learnt in my opinion, so the next chat can be much better.

meaning: we are all at the mercy of technology. And sometimes it sucks to be at its mercy, but we do our best and try to smile anyway.

(I have a g-d gateway PC at work and I am ready to hurl it out of my cubicle into the nearest postage meter.)

Hear that Uncle? Not just iMacs that are rotten. In fact, I know of more people changing to Macs than to PC's.
