Great Railway Journeys by gk on 23 July 2005 9:55pm

I have finally seen Great Railway Journeys. I have to say that my favourite is the Irish one. Being from there I particularly enjoyed watching the audience at the singing priests' concert. It was like looking back on a completely different age, and certainly seemed much more distant than just 12 years ago! The Edge was a bit too arrogant for my liking.

GK, how many 'Great Railway Journeys' were there? I've seen only one - Ireland.

Thanks

There are two. The Irish one ("From Derry To Kerry") was made in 1994. He made another one in 1980 ("Confessions of a Train Spotter") travelling from Euston, London to Kyle of Lockalshe in Scotland. It was his first travel programme.

Actually, MP only did 2, but there were several episodes in several series. I remember Buck Henry going to Argentina & found some folks of Welsh descent!

Here are at least 3 of the series:

Just bought the book of the Great Railway Journeys series with a chapter by Mr Michael Palin on the Kerry to Derry trip. Never even knew it existed. Mint hard back for £3.99. Still smiling about it!

Oh gk, if you only had the chance of meeting Edge you'd find that he's actually a very genuine guy - as are the other 3
