Full Circle question by xenochimp on 13 September 2005 12:28am
Hi all,
I was wandering if anyone has any information about the guy who helps Michael and the crew up the Amazon river ? I am currentl trying to organize a trip to Peru and I remember the guys being taken up river by a guy from and Irish pub in Cusco. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers all.

You know that MP has made the full text of all his books freely available on this site, right?

In Full Circle, Day 191: Quillabamba to Kiteni:
The organization of our river trip, now tantalizingly close, is in the hands of Barry Walker, a Mancunian ornithologist who, with his Peruvian wife, runs a fine pub called the Cross Keys in Cuzco.

This was actually on the Urubamba River, not the Amazon.

Thanks for that. I am new to this site and still trying to get to grips with it. I use the internet at work so I don't have that much time online. Thanks

Yes, I know what you mean! This is one of the best-organized sites around & well worth exploring & you'll see how quickly & easily you'll pick it all up (I just used the Keyword Search function over there on the left).

Reading the books is a breeze, too -- the Bookmarks are extremely handy!

And, as I've said elsewhere, a new Basil Pao photograph on my desktop every few months makes working at my desk a lot less tedious, boring, dull, unimaginative, tedious, dull, dull, dull...

Hope this link helps about Barry Walker. I was interested to find out that he also occupies the post of British Consul in Cusco, and received an M.B.E in the Queens New Years Honors list 2004. More relevant to you is that he is owner of Manu Expeditions a pioneer eco-tour operator in Manu specializing in natural history, archeological and cultural trips
