My favorite sketches tend to be the "wordy" ones which Eric Idle wrote, like "Spot the Looney," "The Ideal Loon Competition," "Storytime," "The Money Programme." But my single favorite is the "fighting over the microphone" sketch - I don't know what else to call it! - which is the first one I ever saw and the first time I saw MP. JC begins a documentary about the woodlands which inspired Sir Walter Scott, then MP comes in and takes the mic to do a documentary about Britain's lumber industry. They chase each other through the field and wrestle for the mic, eventually a car chase ensues, but neither good stiff-upper-lip British tv personality ever fails to deliver his documentary.

I wrote a haiku about it when PythoNet used to have contests:
Two men in a field
but only one microphone
the B B C is broke

Cori, I'd forgotten the "fighting over the microphone" sketch. Oh God, it was hilarious. Thanks for jogging my fading memory.

I liked the haiku. Yes, that was a great sketch. Documentaries, meet rugby.

I'm a bit partial to 'fish slapping' just because it is so silly. I also like confuse a cat too! Does anyone know what the lethal joke was?
