A letter to Michael from everyone! by Wildblue on 11 April 2006 12:35pm

I was wondering if there would be any interest in sending Mr. Palin a joint letter from, well.. everyone who regularly visits this web site. There is no way, that I can find, of contacting him electronically but I could draft a letter, except suggested revisions from anyone here interested in the project, get a bunch of people willing to agree to sign it, with say their Name, city, and username, and then I could send it snail mail. I bet if it was signed by a bunch us, that it would get through to Mr. Palin and probably generate a response from him right here on the web site. The tone of the letter would be gratefull and polite. Thanking him for providing such a great forum for the exchange of ideas. It would also include a few suggestions for improvements, such as a chatter box topic that would be "Messages to Michael" for people who wanted to say something directly to him, or any good suggestion that you think of adding. I'm sure he would be glad to hear that many people take an active interest in the web site he went to so much trouble to create. And I think it would be a interesting experiment to try. So let me hear from anyone interested in taking part it in. Thanks for your attention.

Morgan

We sent him a greeting 'signed' by us all for his birthday last year, Morgan, but as far as I recall we had no response.

Still, always worth a try!

A birthday card does not beg a response, but if we sent a letter specifically regarding this site, and his updates, I think he would both get it perosonally and respond on this site. It would depend on how many people where willing to sign it of course. The more signers the more likly a response. Any interest?

It might not beg a response, but usually you will thank the person(s) for it!!!

Your right of course Spursfan, I'm surprised you didn't get some sort of response from a birthday card sent by a group of people who said they where from this site. Part of the resoan I'd like to send this letter is that Mr. Palin has not written anything on this site is such a long time, about five months. I know he's a busy man, but so am I, and I bet your pretty busy yourself, but I find time to write here quite frequently. I'm not sure how popular this site is, when ever I'm here I see the same small group of names over and over, and I'd like to reasure Mr. Palin that this site is important to alot of people, and in doing so make sure it remains important to him. But it wont work unless alot of people get involved and so far your the only one who has showed interest.

As one of the 'regulars' I would be willing to sign it, Morgan.

Morgan, I'd sign it too, Palin has showed me places on the TV I'd love to go and see, and I have including a tea plantation in India of all places, on arrival the owners told me that Michael had stayed there on one of his series, so I owe him my lust for travel

I would sign it. Yes, keep the tone polite and we have to figure out what we would like to say for the most positive impact. Certainly thank him and offer to be "of service" to him. (Su servidor, as my Mexican friends would say). Since he provides this site for free, it is the least we can do. In the thank you forum Valerie started, many of us mentioned that otherwise, we don't go into chat groups. I must reiterate how we have built a real "community" here. Maybe we should flesh all that out for those of us who want to sign. What this site means to all of us.
