Writing as Extension of Gettogether. by tucsonmike on 27 April 2006 9:49pm

I attended my writers group Tuesday. I had an idea as part of a get together, it should be written about. We are planning to have real time discussions with other Meetup writing groups and I wanted to let you folks in on it.

I would be willing to work on a forum here for anyone interested in writing and I will include blogs in that.

Here is the link for my writers group. You can read my Red Sox essays in the section marked files.

I have sent several publishers a manuscript for a children's picture book I've written - probably suiting the 3 and unders.

It features our Staffie and I foresee others in the series (an ABC, a numbers book etc).

So far had 2 replies - both saying that they do not do picture books (but one was heading me in the right direction in their publishing company).

I won't send it to you Mike as it is far too simple for you - but just thought I'd share this with you!!

One day I'll be the JK Rowling of the under 5's (I wish, oh how I wish!!)

I'll look at it Anne. I could use something simple for a change. LOL! Send it on.

Arty, I started to make some notes. Nothing will happen this weekend, 'cause I have company.

Geraldine, I had in mind originally just putting together a writing workshop here in Blathering On. Then, the Writers Group had the idea of the "real time forum." I would tell everyone the times, the way Ken set up when we could be in the chat room, and I would get you a way to speak with us in real time. In between, we could just have a forum here. After all, we have Blathering On...

I have sent you the book Mike.

Remember the age group it is meant for when you look at it!! I know it is not a masterpiece of the English Language - but then it isn't supposed to be.

Best wishes

Anne *nervously awaits Mike's comments*

OK, Anne looking forward. Let me know what you all would like to see in a writers forum and I will put it together.

what do you mean "taking some notes"?

if there is anything you don't get email me. also do you know of any american statues with arrows on them?

Re: Writing as Extension of Gettogether. by tucsonmike on 6 May 2006 3:15am

American statues with arrows in them? I have to check. I mean, all sorts of American cavalry ended up with arrows in them in the 19th Century. Elaines friend who came to visit last weekend is related to George Armstrong Custer as in "Custers Last Stand." If Linda's mom is watching a Western with Indian fights, she cheers when the Indian gets killed. I'll check for you Arty.
