Memories of McLeod Ganj? Oh yes, plenty of 'em.

Tibetan monks in Doc Marten boots. Stray cows stopping people from boarding buses. Internet cafes with intermittent connections - although the idea of sharing internet connections with Tibetan monks in such a remote place is in itself bizarre. Cadbury's almond chocolate. Anything you can mention with the word "Himalaya" or "Tibet" plastered all over it. The "country within a country" aspect of being in Tibet, but in India. Arguing about rugby with my Kiwi room-mate and an Aussie woman outside the Dalia Lama's HQ. Bureaux de change that were more civilised and welcoming than any I've been to. Knackering my knees on the climb up to Dharamkot.

Where will you be working?

Doesn't ring any bells, unfortunately, but I didn't spend enough time in the area to get to know the names of many places.

Sounds interesting. What will you be doing for the monastery.

I have to start teaching my China class again soon and I am wondering what I will put in this time about Tibet. (I vary it, depending on who I have for students).
