  The Chatter Box : Travel
South East Asia by Lafcadio on 18 May 2006 1:26pm
I'm going to be travelling in Thailand, Laos and Vietnam in July and August and just wondered if anybody has any advice. I'm planning to travel from Bangkok to Changmai by train and then to Laos. I hope to spend about 10 days there before travelling to Vietnam for a couple of weeks.
I especially want to know about safety and remaining healthy in these countries. Do I need any jabs etc?

Do the motorbike tour in Hue - Cafe on Thu wheels does a great one. Their pancakes are rubbish though!! Also do a boat trip on the Mekong. Halong Bay is a must. Hanoi is lovely. The beach in Hoi an is lovely - much better than Na Trang.
You will need jabs - ask you nurse. Have a great time.

Strange to read about those places in Vietnam that way. For me, they are datelines from childhood in the Vietnam War.
