Moving Away by robnights on 5 July 2006 6:39pm
I'd love to live on a small island, where you know most of the people who reside there. Where the main industries are agriculture and fishing, and where the whole atmosphere is relaxed and chilled.

I'm just wondering how you go about finding these islands? how you get there? how you get permission to live there (if you like it).

The best place would be somewhere where you could build your own small house for yourself without needing planning permission!!!

There must be somewhere like this left in the world???

Outer or Inner Hebrides, Orkney, Shetland are all island groups suitable for your purposes around Scotland. The Greek Islands come to mind and there is one near Kos where the people on it have done exactly what you describe.
Remember that on a small island it is difficult to make your own bricks so you would be better taking all your building materials over at the same time.

Hi everyone:)

I suppose you have received a mail like this before, but unfortunately I couldn't find it.

Can someone tell me how can I contact Mr. Palin directly (if possible at all)? an e-mail address, phone number?

Luniverse, at the bottom of the screen, click Contact. It gives you a snail mail address.

As for an island? Dunno, I kinda sorta like the desert. There is an island of Sonora in the Gulf of California Tiburon (shark) Island. If the Seri Indians gave me permission....
