9/11 Five Years Later. by tucsonmike on 11 September 2006 5:57am

Well, tomorrow it is five years. I am debating attending one of the memorial services in town. I watched CNN reporter Christiane Amanpour's In the Shadows of bin Laden. Gives me the drive to work on my book.

Just shaking my head.

on my way back from college today i kept seeing the evening standard headline about 9/11 and it reminded me about something i heard about in church a few weeks after 9/11. "we're always getting and forgetting, god is always giving and forgiving"
it was a sermon about how easy it is for us to forget things when the media stop mentioning it.

I just wish the fifth year didn't coincide with a national election. Listening to our "leaders" (of all stripes) using September 11 for their political ends makes me want to throw up.

Yes, I know it's naive of me, but hey, I'm a naive person.

Someone asked about bin Laden the other day and the reply was, "the trail is as cold as ever".

I became teary eyed. The memories of watching from the cliffs are there. Everyone at work wanted to ask me about it.

I saw a program about this guy lastnight, he really made a big difference in ensuring the twin towers had proper fire drills and stuff, he predicted an air attack.

They should have some kind of memorial to him at ground zero, he helped save a lot of lives, an unsung hero i think.
