I just read rtwbiker's food poisoning tale. Sounds horrible! I had food poisoning this last summer, and boy, did it do me in...but I can't imagine being on a plane with it, and fainting... ugh...and then heading straight to the hopsital for 3 nights...
what did you eat?

Helen, I first thought that it was from the water that I had accepted from locals in the Northern Sinai. But, that had been six days earlier. Then, I remembered the well-done steak that I ate at the restaurant in my Cairo hotel the night before. The waiter recommended it to me, and brought it out a minute later. I didn't stop to ask how they could cook a well-done steak so quickly. God only knows how long it had been sitting in the kitchen before the cook re-heated it.

turning over my well done steak in Buenos Aries and finding the dead flies
unfortunately I had sampled it.spent the next two weeks in hospital with dysentery.aah happy days.also taking the river ferry from Rewas in Maharashtra to Bombay shared the ferry boat with about 600 locals who on spotting dolphins off the starboard side all moved over with near catastrophic results, dont recommend this cruise.

whilst bouncing madly in the back seat of a 4-wheeler in the Gobi Desert in western Mongolia I found it way too rough to write in my journal, so used by mini-recorder. Found out that my driver was convinced that I was telephoning the government and telling them all about him and what he might be doing wrong. It was several days before the translator convinced him that I was just recording what I was seeing about me.. . After that he was convinced that I was a journalist and was writing a book about him and his travels. We became buddies after that and he took to singing sad Mongolian songs daily while on the road! ..and yes, I recorded the singing!

During a sleepless night in Lisboa...
I was 18 and I was travelling in Europe whith an Inter Rail ticket...then I passed my first night in Lisboa on the streets, because I haven't enough cash and no credit card for Hostels...I met so many strange people that night; one of these was a terrible drunk young man which would have been able to rob me of everything I had if a policeman had not come to help me just at the last moment!!brrr
marco
p.s. sorry for my english

Pedro,

In reference to the Indians and Dolphins. My god Indians have got this "sheep" syndrome at times have'nt they. I was on a "Safari" once in east India, and we were looking for Tigers. The second we got a glimpse, the Indian family in my jeep all lept up screaming and shouting and pointing in excitement. Of course, whenever they did this, the bloody Tiger dissapeared in a flash. I felt like hitting them. They were so dim witted. LOL
