Let's go Mets LOL! Baseball and Soccer are the only sports I pay attention to. What brought you to the States? Let me know when you come back. I might be able to meet you in L.A. (My favorite cousin lives there).

That third base coach for Cleveland Indians will always regret stopping Kenny Lofton on that play late in the game. Lofton will never let him forget it I'm sure. Yeah, split second decision, and I'm a little surprised the call wasn't ignored by a pretty fast guy.

I went out in July to visit a friend who was working in LA. He's now upped-sticks to Vegas though. Was purely a holiday. Spent a lot of time wandering up and down Hollywood Boulevard and lying on Santa Monica beach.
Not sure where I'll go next. I've done East and West Coast, so probably somewhere in the middle! Certainly won't be LA though. Will have to ckeck the season schedule (or the "fixture list" as we call it over here!)

I'm so embarrassed! Of course they're playing the Rockies. This is what happens when I try to use words before I've had my coffee.

Although it will not matter, Pete. The Sox won so big in the end.
Well, Bunniegirl, let us know where in Yankland, you end up next year. I have to be in San Francisco end of July. (Now that sounds stupid. Have to be in San Francisco? It is a gem).
I will check the schedules, I'm sorry Fixture Lists.;-) George Bernard Shaw was right. Two nations separated by a common language.

my team (Glasgow Rangers) are doing well at the moment, brushed aside our bitter rivals 3-0 at the weekend and tonight (Tues) we take on Barcelona in the Champions League.

BRING IT ON

I HATE it when I want to root for both teams!

THEY DID IT! The Red Sox won the World Series for the second time in my lifetime! (I'll be 50 next year.) A clean sweep, how sweet it is! YEE-HAW!

I know, I will be fifty one in December and Elaine will be fifty three this coming Monday. A friend from New Bedford, Massachusetts called the moment the last out was made.
I am trying to picture the celebration in Government Center, with the crusty old New Englander muttering, "Youse have had your party, now get back to work!"

I grew up near Boston--I don't think they said "youse". It'd be yih, as in "Yihve had yer pah-tee, now get back ta work!" The odd thing about the old Massachusetts accent is that they drop rs from words and put rs where they don't belong. I always knew the tourists, because they pronounced "Worcester" "Wor-chest-er", when it should have been Woo-stah.

I have a friend who lives in Roxbury, and her husband is a cop. She says he was pretty busy rounding up drunks and rowdies that night. Ah, Boston! I do miss it.
