Don't know about on film but certainly on TV as I said above, to me as a very young child he WAS Robin!

I remember Friar Tuck and Little John very clearly. It was a bit confusing to have the lady who presented 'Picture Book' on Watch with Mother playing Maid Marion, too!! When I was small I assumed it was Maid Marion reading the stories or whatever, not the actress in another job (apparently she did the Picture Book presenting from 1955-57 when she left for Robin Hood, but of course they kept showing repeats of Picture Book I suppose)!

Here's a bit of nostalgia for those UK palinites 'of a certain age'.....

Yes, Heather, and he could sing pretty well too. I remember going off him when my mother informedme that he DRANK - that was kiss-of-death in our household(until I got to know better, I thought pubs were evil places.
Ohh, James Stewart - and he was such a NICE and GOOD person in real life too, I believe.
Anne, do you remember a very young Paul Eddington in Robin Hood? he was usually Alan-a-Dale but did other bit parts too. Now was it Robin Hood or William Tell where you could clearly see a pylon as the arrow sped through the air?

Hahaha! I note on the link I put on about Robin that Paul Eddington as in it, but I can't say I remember him.

Perhaps if I see a photo of him as Alan-a-dale I will remember.
