I'm constipated... can you help? by Miss-M on 27 June 2007 1:24pm

Some of you might be a little taken aback by the bluntness of this topic but given that the majority of us are mature adults, I'm sure the thread will yield at least a few intelligent comments.

I have suffered with a sluggish bowel for many years and I was hoping that my fellow Palinites might have a few helpful hints as to some natural remedies I might employ to assist in the regulation of my motions. I would be interested to receive feedback from all corners of the earth and hopefully find a remedy that is right for me.

I look forward to your suggestions. This thread is written in all seriousness and I hope your replies will be of a similar nature.

I believe I can give you the shits Missy, can I recommend listening to a CD repeatedly of Ernie Dingo or perhaps a good dose of Eddie McGuire before bed?

Seriously, try a good dose of Metamucil it's all nice and orangy.

Twelve pints of Guiness, a lamb vindaloo and a few packets of salted peanuts.
You will be able to 'roughcast' your house by tomorrow !

Have you mentioned this to your physician, Missy? He might want to test for hypothyroidism. The remedy would be a tiny tablet on a daily basis. It's a very common problem. I suggest this becasue you say this a a chronic problem, not just a need for a laxative. Whatever you do, don't take any on a regular basis. your body will depend on it to function. That's something to worry about.

Nothing wrong with the bluntness, you needed our help. I cannot add to the useful suggestions some here have already posted.

I think this thread is in the spirit of Palin's Travels since MP discussed bowels with the Dalai Llama...
Anyway, try drinking ALOT of water each day. And go to the pharmacy for docusate sodium pills, which are available over the counter. Also, try a fiber supplement - but the key is the water. The fiber and pills won't help unless you are hydrated. If that doesn't help, go to a doctor. Hope you feel better!

I usually have quite the other problem Missy but when it's your way, I eat dried prunes. It works for me. Go easy at first! (Soak them overnight & then boil them if that's more palatable?) Also, yes, do see your doctor.Don't want an unpleasant condition lingering.
Hope it clears up.
