	Great joke at the Sydney APEC summit by ev on 12 September 2007 6:35pm   G'day everyone, Over the past week, as you may know, Sydney hosted the APEC summit, on which about $160 million was spent on a massive security operation which locked Australians out of a big chunk of their own city, basically just so various world leaders could have their own little private party. Police were given powers similar to those in a dictatorship. However, an Australian TV comedy show, called 'The Chaser', for a joke made a fake motorcade disguised with Canadian flags and 'security' guys jogging along next to the cars! No wonder the NSW police chief wasn't happy - the Chaser boys really highlighted the incompetence of the local police force. I don't know if that took "balls," or if it was just absolutely STUPID of them (i.e. could have gotten shot), but I always appreciate when someone goes out of their way to make me laugh! Trigger Happy TV meets Tom Clancy! I tried a similar tack in Key West trying to track down Michael Palin, but since he didn't ARRIVE in KW until the day AFTER I LEFT, it didn't matter. I had an old decrepit but professional LOOKING camera, my State of Florida employee ID around my neck, and I went to hotel front desks stating that I was Cori Elliott from such-and-such internet fanzine, and MP's people in London said he'd meet me in the lobby if he wasn't late in arriving, so if they could please buzz his room....... IMAGINE if that had worked. Hah hah hah! Absolutely hilarious stuff. Good thing that hyper 160 million dollar security machine was on their toes or Bushie might have got a pie in the face! The only thing bad about it (apart from the other prisoners having the hear the Chasers jokes all night) is that now the political zealots will have another reason to lobby for a fence around Canada!
