Crabfishing can be hazardous to your health by Lounge Trekker on 7 October 2007 5:22pm

So we pulled up the traps...the hungry beggers ate all the bait chicken bones and all but left the skin!

So we measure and sex them, putting the keepers in the beer cooler. Shoulda known they'd be thirsty, too. I had to wrestle the biggest one to get the pop out of his grip when a different one snipped a chunk off my already busy hand.

Not my drinking hand, luckily, but it bled all day.

Those crabs sure took a bite out of you. You have crabby crabs up in B.C.

Hope your hand is healing well! Were they Dungeness or King crabs? Don't know how far north the Dungeness range but they are by far the tastiest IMO. (I'll be going out to the coast to puppysit later this month and I'll be able to get crabs right on the docks from the fishermen. My mouth is watering already.)

Geraldine, if any fisherman gives you crabs I'll punch them out ;)

I am a bit squeamish when it comes to trying anything like crab or oysters or anything like that (I would be hopeless on I'm a Celebrity because you wouldn't catch ME eating Witchity grubs or Kangaroo 'bits'!!). However, when we went to Cromer recently I tried some crab there (dressed) and loved it! Cromer is famous for crabs.

And no funny comments about eating crab dressed or nude thank you!!

;-)

You've waited until you've become a great-grandmum to eat your first crab!!! You've deprived yourself, girl!

ick. crab fishing is even dangerous to spectators. every time i see people fishing a crab chases me, i think they must know that they scare me, the sneaky buggers.
